Hello all,

For the longest I have always wanted a 2dr, 2wd tahoe. I hated that Chevy stop making them. Well the time have come to finally get my hands on one. I want to make it into daily driver. So I have some questions.

1. Mileage range have been from 115k to 150k for the few I have looked at. What are common problems with the engine and tranny at this range?

2. Price have ranged from $4500 to $6000 for the same 2drs. What is a good price? I want one unmolested but will take one with a nice drop.

3. Can you swap the dash and seats to a newer model chevy truck or suv without breaking the bank?

Any thoughts, comments, opinions or whatever is greatly welcome.

If you can grab one at a decent price in good condition I say take it and do it up your way. These are becoming scarce as the years go by, especially 2wd. Even with high mileage a new engine can be had for about a grand and you're in business, the availability of aftermarket parts for them is huge, plentyful and often times cheaper ($$) than OEM..

I'd go for a 96-00 model. They will have vortec heads and MPFI instead of throttle body injection. The dash will also be a newer style instead of the boxy square style.

At that mileage range, there really shouldn't be anything wrong, just test drive it and make sure it shifts ok and everything.

Check out RivieraRider's post in the exterior section where he's swapping in a 2010 model interior into his ride...if your eally wanna swap seats.

biggest thing is the trans, make sure its shifting correctly and the fluid is clean. if the truck was taken care of you shouldn't have any problems with the engine below 200K, everything else is just normal wear and tear parts.

96-99 FTW!
