Nivomat Replacement Shocks

In the process of replacing my 2007 Tahoe shocks (front and rear). Just identified I have the ZW7 Premium Ride shocks in the rear. Has anyone found a decent deal out there for replacements? If so where?

Or should I go the route of replacing the rear shocks and springs together to convert to stock? Where can I find the best deal and how difficult is it to replace the springs?

Are those the autoride, or is that a different premium shock? I went with some of the advice on the forum and bought Arnott replacement for front & rear. I've had them in for 6 months or so & it rides just like it did when I bought it. I also bought mine over labor day & they had a 10% off deal

Tahoe Nivomat ZW7 rear suspension

First I want to thank all the people out there that share their info.

In regard to ZW7 self leveling Premium Smooth ride suspension on 2005 Tahoe. The Nivomat shocks are ridiculously expensive and I refused to pay it., around $400 a piece. With that said wanted to share my experience. Have 2005 Tahoe 2x4. Ride was terrible, now I know that one of SACHS 15029588 dampers was bad. Decided to convert the whole thing to Bilstein coils (part # 199021) and Bilstein rear shocks # 24-065009. Check your application. Finished this last night and the ride is grand. You wont be sorry. You can do all that cheaper than one of those Nivomat replacements. shockwarehouse.com is where I found my best deal.
One word of caution when you jack the body up to pull the coils. Watch out for the brake line that comes from the body to the top of differential. On my vehicle I was able to get coils out without any compressors and the new ones back in without compressors but its close.

You say Nivomat which makes me think the shocks with the bladders aka Autoride (Z55), but you mention ZW7 premium ride. Does your vehicle have autoride or not?

You also say replacing the rear shocks and springs together and convert to stock. Is your Tahoe not stock right now? As far as difficulty of replacing the springs, they just drop out once you remove the shocks and let the axle sag, they aren't retained by anything other than the weight of the body.

not sure if you posted to me or AZbanker. NO autoride on my tahoe, Code in glovebox is ZW7. I think nivomat is a style distinction for this type dampener/shock. The OEM maker is SACHS. It is self contained self leveling. ( search it) I think the autoride Z55 uses a compressor, someone correct me if I am wrong.

no not difficult , chock tires, remove shocks, drop both rearward sway bar connections , jack body up -but watch out as body lifts up pay attention to how much tension you put on the brake hose that is attached to body and top of differential. Yours may be different also I work off the ground so I have to lift the body away from the axle verses letting the axle drop away from body.
one SACHS was totally bad, the other still had lots of pressure so watch out when you remove. I could not push in the good SACHS after removal.
FYI Tahoe only has 112k .
