I put in a dynomax bullet muffler today and just dumped it right before my axle. Does anyone know the laws in NJ regarding exhaust? I wanna know if I'll be able to pass inspection or not. Thanks

Does NJ have regulations regarding noise levels? Probably listed under DMV or EPA for the state.
Talk to some of the tuner shops or at the very least parts houses that sell such exhaust products.
Some states don't do a visual inspection, they just plug into the OBD2 port and scan away.
Try asking any NJ State inspection station tester. Questions are usually free, even in NJ.
What exit?

I moved out of jersey over twenty years ago but from what i remember You can`t dump a pipe if it`s under the passenger compartment which made it illegal for any car or suv. I failed inspection for dumping the exhaust over the axle on my old chevelle but passed for the same setup on a pickup. If i remember correctly it has to be a certain distance from the passenger compartment to prevent any exhaust entering the vehicle.

Sometimes you can get lucky at a local garage that does inspections and they`ll look the other way and pass you.

And just an FYI to ilikeeggs, Not to sound like a dick but nobody from jersey thinks the what exit stuff is funny.

Lol, no offense intended. I'm from long Island and get it often for the Long Island expressway. (exit 50 btw..). I have fond memories of NJ. Joyce Kilmer and all the other awesome rest stops. Nothing like them anywhere else I've been. I used to travel to Ft. Dix when I was in Civil Air Patrol as a kid, as well as have spent many summer vacations at Great Adventure, Jungle Habitat and Asbury Park. Exit 7A, Shore points holds special meaning for me. NJTP is awesome baby, lighten up.
