Its been quite awhile since I had to use the 4 wheel in the Yukon. Yesterday I tried to lock it in and nothing. The 4 hi light flashes and the transfer case shifts but the axle wont lockin. If I remember right the last rime I used it it took awhile before it kicked in. But this time no go. Im guessing its probably the actuator on the axle but just wanted to post it up on here in case there are any common probs that would cause this. Thanks!

Pull the actuator off and have someone shift it into 4wd. If the actuator moves out, it's good. If that's the case, there is a bearing on the arm inside the diff that wears out. $13 part that takes several hours to replace, mostly because you have to drop the diff and split it open.

unknown at this time.
not necessarily. the switch that powers the front actuator or the feedback switch or the separate power circuit that powers them both could also be the cause. and yes even in internal mechanical failure can keep the front axle from locking in. even if the tcase shifts.

Nice, Mine was doing that about 2 months ago. I just replaced the transfer case and now my fuse keeps popping. Hope its not a scaved wire somewhere.
