WWent to start my 2003 flex fuel suburban and all it did was crank. I swapped out the relays and still no start. Neighbor came over and found the ECM/fuel pump fuse blown. He replaced it and the truck runs great. Is it possible that the relay was on its way out and that caused the fuse to blow? Relay works fine swapped with high beam one if I recall correctly. Any guidance would be great. I have been on the forums searching the last two days. I am planning on putting a new pump and harness in tomorrow. Truck was driven 350 miles over three days without issue. Thanks for any help, much appreciated?

oh i see
well a fuse blows typically say the equipment draws 10 amps and its on 15 amp fuse and then there is a short to ground somewhere in the wiring before the electrical device
then there is a 50 amp draw and then the fuse pops
and its possible it could have been a bad fuse
i would chalk it up to an isolated incident
becuase usually if a fuse pops beucase of an electrical issue somewhere like a short then itll keep popping right away
so id wait see if it pops again

I bit the bullet and did the pump and filter. Delphi pump ran me 208 bucks and the filter was around 20. The filter was original with 92k on it. Blew through the end and brownish chocolate milk looking Crap came out. Worth the piece of mind and I consider the 3 hours on my back in the driveway well spent. Oh, and the Bottle of Jack for my awesome Neighbor that helped me. Truck ran great on a two hour trip the next day and fires up quicker than before.

Sounds like the pump was drawing too many amps and blew the fuse. Most likely due to the condition of your filter. You did the right thing by replacing both.
