Hey guys...I have a noise (though to describe) when I accelerate to about 25 MPH and still have the gas pedal pressed. It sounds like a whining or grinding sound (sounds like its fron right under the driver seat) but only if the gas pedal is pressed. Lay off the gas, and coast, and it stops after aout a second. Press the gas, and it comes back. Only after I hit 25 MPH and above...nothing below.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like it may not be coming from there did the vehicle do a lot of towing? My explorer does those and its the rear end because of its previous idiot owner beating the shit outage it and towing heavy equiptment

O yea and my dads ranger does this aswell because the rear end went out and was rebuilt but still makes the noise... I think it has to do with the bearings or not being alined

Thanks for the insight on this....its a really clean truck, only 83,000, and well taken care of. No towing that I am aware of, but cant really say.

The pinion bearings can make faint droning or whining noises at higher speeds on the 10 bolt rear axles.

Thanks...but I have yet to even get this truck above 50 MPH..the sound kicks in around 25...and is always there when the gas is pressed...release the gas at any speed (25-50) and coast, and it goes away. Step on the gas...its back.
Very weird...never had this issue with any other vehicle I've had.
Thanks again for the help.

My dad's '02 c1500 does it too. It's been doing it for about 100-150k miles.

I have almost the exact same problem with my 99 Denali, but it only makes the noise when 4wd is engaged. Only makes noise when the accelerator pedal is pressed and stops while coasting. They may be related? Who knows. Hopefully you can get it figured out so I can find a place to start getting mine fixed.
