The engine braking part of tow/haul mode for the 6L80 transmissions.

It's a bit harsh/abrupt. But, at least it only "works" when in D, if in M, no engine braking.

Anyone else notice the harshness of the engine braking? It would seem it would be worse for the trans life anyway.

I like the engine braking on my 2011 when I'm towing. It doesn't seem harsh to me. The new Tahoe has engine braking in drive and not just in tow haul mode but you can switch it off or on. If it were ******* the transmission I don't think GM would have it, much less expand it to normal driving. Maybe they should put a Jake brake on these things.

I like it. Saves the brakes. Was nice when I went to pick up a new Kubota B2920 with a trailer with no brakes... on a road with a pretty steep hill.
