I just took ownership of my first lifted 4x4 truck. It's a 2 door tahoe with a 6" rough country lift on 35's. Is there anything that should be addressed from a reliability stand point as far as my powertrain goes? I see some guys upgrade the gears but is that just a preference thing or a must do to not break stuff? Also does anything in the transmission need to be upgraded? Thanks

35x12.5x20.

Also forgot to mention should I upgrade brake lines to steel braided, do a full brake kit upgrade, or stay stock?

He says 35's. I wouldn't think you would need to with 35's.

Gears depends on what you have.
If you have 3.42's I would regear it. That will only put more stress on the trans.
Brake upgrades are a good thing with all the extra weight from rims/tires. (depends on how wide too)
Braided stainless flex lines help bring back a solid pedal feel. Not needed. They should hold up longer (as far as abuse etc) but they are still rubber on the inside.

Check bushings for wear. Do you know anything about if its been regeared. For 35s 4.56 is a good choice. Would also go ahead and do the nbs master cylinder upgrade. There's a tutorial in the obs section and its a great upgrades

I took a look in the glove box and found what I believe is the gear code which read GT4 for 3.73. Will this hold up or regear it anyways?

It will work but will still strain the trans. I would pull the rear dif cover and see if it has been regeared

I asked the previous owner and he said no he left it stock. I'll ask Mrs. Santa for new gears. Thank you for your replies Gzes.

No problem yea you can run around in it but I wouldn't go crazy. Remember if you regear do front and back while at it. I you have dif ratios in front and back the t case won't like it n go boom
