The black trim on the pillars falling off isn’t covered under the certified used warranty!? This blows my mind. All 6 pieces on my recently purchased 15 Tahoe are loose. Dealership called their warranty POC cuz it’s not listed under covered items in their system and the warranty guy confirmed that it is not covered. How can a part of the exterior trim falling off not be covered, especially when it’s a known issue!?

Anyone else have issues getting things covered under the certified warranty?

I also tried calling customer service and that was a complete waste of time. The person could barely understand me and me her due to the language barrier. She clearly was just following a flow chart and kept saying based on my miles and date of purchase my warranty was in effect. They escalated it to a “supervisor” that took 3 days to call back with a solution of they will forward the concern to a supervisor. Was supposed to call me back 3 days later. That was 3 days ago and nothing!!

any warranty is tricky, it is important to read the details of what is covered or not covered before purchasing the warranty that way things like this do not occur as a surprise.
there are basically 3 types of warranty
1. cheapest usually only covers powertrain items that break before there expected lifespan (does not include abuse by the driver)
2. middle of road warranty covers powertrain items no matter how they break within a specified mileage and/or time period (whichever occurs first)
3. higher end warranty that covers powertrain and most electrical problems or anything else mechanical or electrical that may break or fail. no matter how they break within a specified mileage and/or time period (whichever occurs first)

in most cases even the highest warranty does not cover brake pads, glass, tires, (wear items etc) and probably not things that just break such as the trim in your case

all of this should have been explained to you when purchasing the warranty, however some salepersons are slick and never mention that the cheaper warranty does not cover certain things and just go for the sale and you leave thinking your covered for almost anything.

This isn’t a purchased warranty. This is the 12 month Certified Preowned GM warranty.

GM says it is “limited” bumper to bumper. I was given a pamphlet that describes it. Only things not covered are supposed to be the normal wearable items and issues arising from neglect.

so did they explain what that covers? did they give you documentation explaining what is covered and not covered? did they offer to sell you a better warranty?
my basic understanding of a "certified" used warranty is it covers the powertrain for a period of time or miles whichever comes first and would not cover anything else.
