I ordered my chrome/chrome grill from GMPD last week and it came in on Friday. I opened up the box when I got it and it looked great. Although the box looked like it had been opened a couple of times, I didn't think much of it.

I went to install it on Sunday and after I went through the pain of taking off the factory grill and installing the new one, it was then when I noticed the bottom right corner of the upper piece had some blemishes in it. One little discoloration mark and then what looks like dents from the two pieces making contact in the box. Makes me wonder if this wasn't a return once or twice.

The marks are so insignificant I almost wanted to just ignore them, and if it was just the discolored blemish I probably would have, but the little dents were pretty obvious (to me at least) in direct sunlight. And since the truck is only a month old I don't want to put an imperfect part on it.

So I took it back off the truck and put the factory one back on. Yeah that was fun. Only took me about 20 minutes the second time!

I contacted GMPD on Monday and they said that since I had installed it on the truck I'd have to go to my local dealer as it now falls under the 12mo warranty. Great, so I'd hope they'd believe me? *sigh* I pleased my case to GMPD saying it was on then off the truck and since it's not a performance part it the defect is there regardless if it was ever on the truck, I just didn't notice it until it was outside.

To their credit they have been working with me now. I've sent photos (it's hard taking photos of chrome!) and I'm hoping they agree to exchange grills with me. I just hope the new one comes packed better and undamaged (which isn't their fault as they are special ordering it from GM and have no control over the packaging).

Although the stock chrome/black grill is looking better and better each day. LOL

I went through 3 grilles from street scene before they sent me a perfect one. I was ordering mine through the GM dealer though, so as soon as they arrived, they would open it up and see if if was dented.. and then send it back.

Now after my pedestrian incident.. i have a grapefruit sized dent in it. :emotions122:

Probably going to get another street scene here soon..

You can push it out, I had to push out a little dent when I installed mine. Just get something and push on it from the backside with your hand on the frontside.

i learned a long time ago to never accept a box that looks damaged. if you did not sign for it (ups just left it at the front door) dont open it. do a "return to sender" and have ups come pick it up (no charge for that). then get a new one that is not damaged. it always works out better in the long run.

Ouch!

I agree with finding a good paintless dent repair guy.

The box didn't look damaged, it just had a couple of layers of tape on it. I figured maybe the dealership opened it to make sure it was ok etc...

And it all looked good, in the house. Even when taking photo it's hard to make the blemishes appear. But once it's vertical on the truck in the sun they are much easier to see.

Ahh well, nothing to lose sleep over, hopefully they'll take care of me and send me a new one. I'd like to keep this one until they do since the bottom half is perfect, just in case the next one isn't.

So after sending photos and such to GMPD they write back today and say those defects would be covered under the GM warranty, so it looks like I have to go to my local dealer. *sigh*

I guess the upside to that is I'll be able to inspect the parts before I take them home to make sure they are perfect.

So I went to a dealer on Saturday and pleaded my case. They couldn't make a decision then because the manager wasn't there. Well I just got a voicemail and they said since it looks like shipping damage the original shipping dealer should be able to take care of it.

:emotions122:

Now I'm back at square one and emailed the shipping dealer saying the local dealer things they should take care of it.

Anyone want to buy an LTZ grille with a slight blemish? :lol

Good news. I received an email from Flow Chevy this morning instructing me to have the grille ready for a FedEx pickup and when they receive it they will order/ship me a new one.
