OBS Escalade steering wheel help

My steering wheel looks like crap, I am going to take it out and sand the leather all down and redye it with sem. My question is horn cover or airbag. In the left corner of it, it is gummy and sticky and nasty. The more I try to clean it, the worse it seems to get. Is there something I can use to prep it so I can dye it as well because I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere.

it is a stuffed combo pizza. horn topping on top stuffed with airbag underneath. mmmm tasty.

try some rubber sealer or primer.

Believe it or not clean it acetone thats how I cleaned mine
