Ugh, it took me a while but I found an old thread on HIDP which has some relevance.

This sale is long over but it gives you an impression of what is involved and how much (if done by a retrofitting pro): http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/sho...-Chevrolet-K1500-4x4-pickup-bi-xenon-retrofit

That's just for the housings, shrouds, and MH1 projectors, you'd still have to spend about $150/$200 on decent bulbs, ballasts and a harness, taking you to around $550/$600. That's a decent price for a used retro but it'll obviously be more if all the parts were new. And it'd of course be less if you were skilled and confident enough to take on the labor yourself.

Hope that helps a little.

PS. That's the last OBS set I have seen for sale, so I just wanted to note that they don't pop up that often to buy used.

Man, am I glad I decided on tractor lights...HIR's...9011 & 9012...Lights up everything, and no additional stuff to add.

My friend just installed HID in his 95 pickup...too blue for me, plus they seem to take forever to get bright. Mine are brighter. Perhaps the right rating is the trick. My old GMC Envoy (s10 blazer variety) had HID factory and the bulb and ballast was $600 from the stealer. Ouch.

mine is going to end up costing me just over $300 for everything. ordered from a friend who is a distributor for hidplanet and a few other wholesalers. I plan on installing around Christmas. Doing the work myself. I'll post pics when i'm done.
