Odd noise. Transmission?

I have a 2015 Yukon XL, with 52k, miles that I just purchased online and had shipped to me by Carbiz out of Baltimore, MD. Yesterday the wife and I took it out for the first time and I noticed a hum/whine only when I'm on throttle. Off throttle it goes away. At first I thought it was tire noise but the sound disappears when coasting. I haven't even had the chance to get it on the highway yet. I've just driven around town.

The noise is pretty quiet. My wife didn't even notice it.

The company has a 5 day return policy and includes a 1 year bumper-to-bumper, but I assume I should take it to the GMC dealer here in town since I'm still under powertrain warranty?

Sounds like a transmission output shaft bearing. pay the $50 and have a mechanic give it a once over.

Local dealer couldn't get me in till Monday. I guess I could try to find a shop to look at it before then.

it might be beneficial to contact them regarding that 5 days, 1. to make them aware there is a possible issue. 2. to see if there willing to extend that a couple of days to have it addressed? maybe? it's worth a shot anyway. does that count weekends? or something of that nature.......

I notified the salesman yesterday. He assured me they stand behind their vehicles and to let him know. So we'll see.

I did notice yesterday that it had been left in Auto and when I put it in 2WD the noise went away. Did the same in 4WD Hi. Leads me to believe its something in the transfer case. Maybe the input shaft bearing? Either way, I have an appointment at the GMC dealer Monday morning to have it checked out.

Salesman assured you...smh. If it isn't in writing it isn't shit. 5 days seems ridiculous for a vehicle that has been shipped. It usually takes that long to line up a transport. Good luck though, hopefully it isn't something too expensive. I'm rooting for you.

Dealer checked it out. They say its either the front diff or transfer case. I do have power train warranty, so it won't be out of pocket. They're setting me up with a loaner Yukon when the parts are available.

I contacted my salesman from Carbiz and told him he sold me a truck with problems. Waiting to hear back from him.

When I’m in Auto or 4WD there is a slight hum when I accelerate as well. I hear the transfer case working . I think this is normal.

If it’s loud or grinding, you have issues.
