Hey All-
I decided to give my throttle body a cleaning the other day and when I got the intake all dismantled and got to the throttle body I noticed some sitting oil in the throttle body. Once I got the assembly off that back side of the paddle was also caked in grease pretty bad. Below are some pictures. I read that something that could cause this is a bad PCV valve so I replaced that but wanted to get more opinions on this. The last time I cleaned the throttle body was around 110k. Truck is now at 128k. Attached are a couple photos before and after I cleaned it.
Thanks!

Bad PCV's cause excessive oil consumption & can cause that. Make sure you get the 'updated' fixed orifice style PCV valve rather than the valved one. The tuned fixed orifice doesn't need replacement...just a quick cleaning once in a while.

brake cleaner

At first I used carburetor cleaner but that didn't work at all. I tried brake cleaner and it took the grease off instantly. It might be a good idea to plug up some of the holes where the sensors are though so you don't mess those up. Also used a tooth brush but the brake cleaner worked wonders.
