If you were to take off the oil cooler lines and cap off the holes would there be any adverse effects on the performance or life of the engine? I am tired of the unstopable oil leaking from them.

Besides the blocking the flow of oil, yes. It plays a roll in engine cooling. Any reason why you can not fix the leak?

Put on one set of ac delco oil lines and 3 sets of the felpro gasket sets the large oring and paper gasket to the block and the thing still leaks. I tried to replace the small orings where the lines go into the filter plate but I manage to tear them apart when I put the lines back into the plate.

I had the same problem. I replaced both oil cooler lines with dorman replacements. I took the oil filter housing off, cleaned it and used silicone (Black RTV) to seal it. the felpro gaskets kept leaking on me. That solved it, no more leaks =)

Try that.

Not long after I bought my OBS Tahoe the radiator started to leak around the oil cooler line fittings. I ended up getting a great deal on a radiator that didnt have hookups for the cooler lines. I just ran the oil lines with a bypass hose for a while and then the lines started to leak. I finally said F it and I bought the oil filter adaptor for the 5.7 without the cooler lines. About $30 for the adaptor and new bolts and no more worries about an oil leak. And the oil pressure jumped up about 20 psi. As far as how hot the oil was I cant answer that.

I might get back into it in the next few weeks or so. It's funny tho the darn thing won't leak some days then some days it will. I was scared to put the RTV on the paper gasket afraid it might get into something it wansn't supposed to.

use the sealant you would just smear it on the paper gasket not slap it on like mayo.

And when you are done let it cure for 24 hrs. before putting filter on or adding oil and starting.
