I have an 02 z71 tahoe with the 5.3l flex fuel engine.. About 3 weeks ago I went to do routine maintenance and changed the oil. Today my check engine oil level came on and so I took a look and there was not even a drop of oil on the dip stick. I went and bought 5 quarts of oil and it took all of it. The crazy thing is, there was only a drop of oil on the oil filter but no oil on my drive or my garage.. I'm confused any one know what the deal could be?

I say put oil in it up to proper level and mark down the mileage. Drive it for a week and see where it ends up. If no change, I suspect the lube guys underfilled it. If you continue to lose oil and there are no leaks visible anywhere, your motor is eating it up.

I actually just put in a pcv valve it was super cheap, the old one when I pulled it out had dried up oil all over it and the Middle piece that rattles was completely gone. Hopefully that fixed it. Thanks for your help!

Check behind throttle blade.
Bet ya its saturated with oil.
I'll do it tomorrow right now it's way to cold to be taking the intake off. What does it mean if it is saturated?

that tells you where all of your oil went.
your pcv system was trashed to it sucked all the oil from the crankcase and burned it all.

Install a catch can.

If it is where the oil is going (from the bad PCV back into the intake) then you seriously need to do a top-end induction cleaning.

My 02 Yukon has a PCV with just an orifice. GM has a TSB out for h2O freezing in the PCV and blocking ventilation in freezing climates. Maybe yours has that type of PCV. If so there is no rattle in it.
