Oil leak common for 2019 Denali

Looked at a 2019 Xl Denali today. Its got 87k on the clock with one owner. Everything looks clean in the engine compartment and underneath except one are where the oil seems to be weeping at the inspection port near the rear main seal and near the oil pan. Not a big drip but there is definitely oil seeping from that area. Small oil spot underneath as well the size of a silver dollar. Is this normal for this year and mileage? Mine does this but it’s an 08 with 202k on the clock.

In all likelihood, the rear main seal may be leaking. I can't say for sure that this is normal for that mileage, but it would be good to take a flashlight and take a look into the inspection port. Changing the rear main seal is not cheap, due to the labor involved, but it should not preclude a purchasing decision, if the rest of the truck checks out OK.

I had to replace my lower oil pan due to a leak around 90k miles.. I think it only cost around $500 at the dealer 2.5 years ago.

It doesn't seem overly common but not unlikely.

Take a look yourself or have it inspected. If it is the rear main seal leaking the trans needs to come out for replacement. If the rear main is leaking already it will not get better just worse. It could also be the oil pan. I have an 18 Suburban with 5.3 with 97k mile and either oil pan or the rear main seal is seeping, oil right by the inspection cover. I will look again in the spring and decide how I want to address it.
