How many quarts down do you need to be before the low oil LEVEL DIC comes on ?

2007-2014 Tahoe.

Good question. I believe it comes on when you are more than 1-1/2 quarts low, but can’t say for certain. Only had it come on once in my 2007 and after my wife told me about it, I added just under 2 qts.

I know the company work truck was down 2 qts, and no light ever came on. Happened more than once... I decided to check the oil. I can't find any documentation on it.

If it's a 2500 or something larger it may take more oil and therefore would make sense that a lower oil level would be needed to trigger the teapot

My 2000 Silverado it turned on when it was 3 quarts low so...
