Oil pressure sending unit replaced, still got funky guage

My oil pressure gauge in my 98 hoe was fluctuating a lot, giving the idiot light off. I replaced the sending unit but the gauge nonsense is still happening. Could the gauge itself be bad, or are their other things to check. Does this truck have an external oil pump?

no the oil pump is driven by the dist gear which is turned by the cam gear. so your oil pump is on the bottom of your motor in the oil pan.

my guess would be your oil pump if you just changed your sending unit. (not a expert) hopefully someone else will chime in and help
