sure some of you saw my other thread about the higher mileage denali im looking at buying, well i took it on a 200+ mile trip the other day and one thing i noticed was the oil pressure , according to the gauge was vet low at idle, around 15psi, highway speed was around 36psi (just under 40 on the gauge) is this normal for these motors with 145k miles

It all depends on how it was maintained. We just had to rebuild a 6.0 here at the shop for low oil pressure. Thought the gauge was bad. Tested it with a mechanical gauge- read very low pressure. Tried two new oil pumps and it still wouldn't make oil pressure. Determined with a trusted GM dealer the bearings were too worn and that was why pressure was low. Sent it out for a rebuild and good as new now, oil pressure is great.

Was reluctant to think oil pressure was actually that low because it ran smooth as a top and very quiet.

I've got LS engines here with 300K miles that are still humming along and others with less than 100K that are shot. Its all in the maintenance and keeping up with the oil changes.

Help... Same deal. The bearings? You tried new oil pump, right? Which bearings?

I'm going to start a new thread for my specific issue, but any additional description on what exactly was wrong would be great. How much it cost, anything.
