Nah not usually.
There's a risk of getting grit/debris in there when filling it since you're pouring from the post-filter side.
You don't do this in the break room next to the coffee grinder, nor while cleaning out your vacuum cleaner, or in a bog.
Instead, turn the ignition to 'on', wait wait for the DIC to boot up, floor the accelerator for a second or 2, and while keeping it fully depressed, crank the engine.
That puts it into 'clear flood' mode where it cuts spark and fuel so you can just crank it forever.
Spin it around with no load for a few seconds then start. You can tell by the sound when you get oil pressure.
You're effectively priming the oil system this way.
AFTER wiping down the bottle, then pouring oil into the filter, then adding the rest of the oil to the engine,
I crank in Clear Flood mode.

Been priming in Clear Flood mode since the early naughties. Just prefer that the oil filter already have some oil in it first.
