I've mentioned it in some other threads but figured I'd make a little build thread on it because I'll be doing a lot of stuff I haven't done before and in a more budget oriented manor.

Ok so it's a 2003 (I think) LT 5.3 2wd Tahoe with 239k on it most of which were hard miles. A buddy bought it for $1,000 sorta sight unseen and was told the tranny leaked out the rear seal. I've had it a few weeks since the owner is out of country and just got to the initial inspection today.

First thing was change the oil since the dark told me too and the filter looked old. Oil looked good but the filter showed signs of age and had some minor sludge in the bottom of it. All in all I think the 5.3 is fairly healthy for its age.

Second thing was checking brakes and basic suspension. Brakes aren't new but have plenty of life left and suspension looks fairly good besides some steering slop. Wheel bearings feel good and look like they may have been replaced judging by the wheel speed sensor wires flopping around.

Rear axle needs a reseal and I need to check the rpo codes I couldn't get the rear to lock by hand spring the tires but, it might have been a lack of wheel speed.

The wheels are some terrible universal drilled 20s that aren't hub centric so 2 of the 4 corners have plastic hub centric spacer things. The wheels need to go I'm gonna look for some OEM take off or a trade to someone looking for 20s.

Lastly the interior needs some love although the seats are fairly nice still.

So is it yours os somebody else’s who is out of the country? I’m so confused..

I am merely a third party contracted for my services however, it will be in my possession for a few months as the owner a long time friend is out of the country.

To be clear I am being paid for my work just not as much as I would normally charge. Plus I enjoy learning new things and y'all are great so might as well share it with you :boobs:
