On the 6" lift do I need a longer front drive line or lower trany?

I didn't feel comfortable with the way it was tight so I recently just took the front driveline out.

What options do i have to make it sit in there better?

You shouldn't need to change anything. With IFS the front differential never moves so as long as teh shaft is long enough (and it should be) you are fine. Trust me, I have two lifted OBS trucks with two different kits. Mine both worked out just fine. My cepek kit lowered the differential a whole 6.5" with no trouble and teh suburban runs a RCX kit which dropped teh differential about 5.125"

OK. Since the lift the driveline made a clunk noise in 4wd and the shop told me it was from tension.

Kris, is the front DS really necessary to replace? I can spin it in park with engine on in 2wd and actually it wont spin if the truck goes in reverse, and I can manually hold it while the truck moves forward, but it does spin when going forward. I do have the Autotrac NP246 Transfer case. What Tcases do you have? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!!

As far as the clunking check your u joints, or at least replace them, especially if you have never done that. Worst comes to worse, check pinion backlash on front and rear diffs.

Bill, when it clunks I am assuming you have 4x4 engaged right? are you testing on dry pavement? I did that ONCE and never again after the blunk/bang I heard. How far is it cranked up? Have a picture of the CV angles? Are you autotrac?

Fernando, you do not NEED to replace it. But from my understanding you may get a vibration. Are you lifted now or just future planning? you can always replace the shaft at a later time and pull it for the mean time. they are around $450 I think for a new CV front shaft.

Yeah it happens when 4wd is engaged. I was on dry flat ground and I tried it a few times and everytime it clunked. If it stops raining I can take some pics when I get home.

clunk going straight or turning? if it was turning, don't do that anymore. the tires need to be able to slip a little in 4x4. Unless you have autotrac (selector switch that says auto 4x4)

It does it when I go straight. It doesn't have autotrac.

I would start with the obvious. make sure everyhting is tight, look for something out of place.
