Does anyone have any info about using a converted York compressor to have onboard air but retain their factory A/C compressor. I have a stock '98 Tahoe with a 5.7L. Any info, please, let me know.

There are several options available for a York conversion. A good sight to look at is www.onboardair.com. Although they are expensive and I wouldn't by too much from them, they are a great source of information.

A York compressor can be found at the Salvage yard in many older Volvo vehicles. You can search for Jeep OBA for designs and information, and just convert the minor things to your Chevy/GMC.

I did this on my Jeep. Very nice to have. I didnt buy a kit. I pieced mine together. I did research and searched for parts. The hardest thing was finding the brackets used to mount the York.. My whole mission was to not give any money to that over priced parts company linked above. If you end up doing it, hit me up before you buy regulators. I made some cool ass air regulator manifolds for me and some Oba guys..
