One Piece Tie Rods

Good Morning everyone. Quick question, who has one piece tie rods on their 99-06 truck/suv? I see Cognito and Rare Parts have offerings. The Cognito’s are a heim style whereas the Rare appear to be a beefier one piece OE replica. Are there any other options I’m not seeing? I drive a lot. Both my trucks eat outer tie rods even with Moog. My Sierra especially does but it’s wheel/tire combo is heavier so that’s to be expected. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Sorry this doesn't answer your question but now that I've seen the Rare Parts tie rods, I think I I'll get some.

I've heard good things about Kryptonite, but have not started my research there. On the flip side, I have 2x 2500s and a 1500 Sierra Denali, so I'm not exactly sure if those will be overkill for you or not.

If you change the way you are lifted, you also might stop eating outer tie rods. Instead of keys, maybe a leveling or lift kit.

My keys in both trucks are now GM whites. If you are unaware, this is an OE key that allows for ALMOST as much adjustment as aftermarket lift keys. They are not indexed as much however. GM put them on plow trucks, etc. for added front end adjustment due to added weight. Last time I checked, a leveling kit on 4wd GMT800s is essentially keys of some sort and longer shocks. I’ve been wheeling IFS GM’s and Toyota’s for approximately 20 years. My tie rod angles on both vehicles are fairly close to how they were originally.

I asked the question specifically regarding higher quality ends, not how to lift my truck. Please take your “expert advice” for how people should perform modifications elsewhere. I also have a GMT400 K2500 truck with the same keys and Moog always gives more years of service on that platform vs the GMT800s for some reason.

On a related note, I’ve spent the last 18 years of my career in the automotive industry. 15 of those in parts. 2 of those with a very well known off road chain. I’ve seen Moog warranty rates increase nationwide over the 10ish years or so. I’m guessing the quality control at Federal Mogul, Moog’s parent company, is decreasing just as about every other major product that we consumers use.

Isn't it a big joke, that in the times, when we are talking about environmental protection and sustainability, cars and other products in particular are becoming less and less durable and more and more difficult to repair?

Absolutely. And right to repair infringements across multiple industries. Been a topic of concern in the auto realm honestly since OBD. Now it’s hitting agriculture and everything.

Agriculture is a very strange thing. If I see the German tractor here, we have a lot of tractors witch are from the forties, still driving and in use. And this modern tractors with GPS and complicated electronic ar permanently broken and if such a product is ten years old, nobody can repair that anymore.

I said to a friend of mine at least, when I had a server witch worked for nearly sixteen years, that this is a good product. He said to me a Volkswagen Golf will not reach 16 years and I answered: Isn't that crazy. If you own a 20 year-old Golf and you care for it, it will get another 16 years without problems. If you buy a new Golf, it will never get more than 10 years old.
