I pulled the trigger on it today. Loving it so far. I plan on having the local Chevrolet dealer pull records on it. I'm curious what has been done as it appears to have been taken care of.

I'll get one once it's cleaned up. It seems to run good, but the duratracs are rougher than a corn cob.... and I love it lol.

I assume this has cylinder deactivation. I have noticed that it makes a weird sound and feeling as if I'm hitting rumble strips on the edge of the road momentarily. I can see the tachometer raise RPM for a split second. Is that from switching from 4 to 8 cylinders, or do I need to investigate into a possible transmission related issue? it also shifts into gears like it has a shift kit. It almost reminds me of the trans am and z28 I had built transmissions in back in the day. Either way I have a 3-year 36000 mile warranty so I won't be heartbroken if the transmission has to be replaced with a new one LOL

try putting the transmission in M5 and see if the rumble sensation goes away.

Welp... That was short lived. Apparently what I was feeling was the transmission on its last hoorah. It started shifting weird today and making an odd noise (owned it less than 24hrs). I happened to be near the dealer I purchased it from when it decided to get stuck in what I assume was 4th or 5th gear. I went ahead and limped it there and their mechanic gave it a quick scan and reset everything. He said it had a BCM communication code? (I believe that's what he said) and assumed resetting it would fix it.

It did, kind of.

The lot is next to a GMC dealership that some good friends of mine work at. I went ahead and drove it over and had them do a quick recall fix on some type of braking issue and had them reset my tire sensors from where they swapped wheels for me at the other dealership. They printed out all the GM service records for me and the mechanic went ahead and did a quick computer check with a GM Scan tool as well. He thought what I was feeling was most likely the 4 to 8 cyl deactivation/reactivation causing the rumble.

Welp... it wasn't. I got on the interstate set the cruise to 70 and made it about 4 miles without issue. Then I assume it lost a gear and revved to the moon. The D for drive started flashing and I wasn't able to get it to shift manually/electronically. I got super lucky and coasted just far enough that I rolled into a rest area. I called the dealership and the owner (they own a really nice towing company) sent a rollback immediately to me and brought me back to their lot. I guess I'll know more tomorrow. I know the owner and he felt horrible, and even have me the keys to his personal vehicle. I refused, but I have no worries they'll make it right. Plus I opted for an extended warranty through my credit union. No clue how it works, but it is through Route 66 (main street coverage). I guess on the bright side... maybe they'll put a new remanufactured transmission in it. I'll update the post once I know.

See if the AC has ever been repaired, specifically condenser. I have a 15 LT and my AC just died. $1800 to replace condenser and rear lines. After some research, I discovered the 15-17 have this known issue that was a defect. A lawsuit was also brought on, but GM won't do a recall. They extended the warranty a bit, but most were out of warranty. A lot of pissed off 2015-17 Tahoe owners... me included. Wish I had researched the year before buying. The AC should not need to be replaced at 5 years. I bought mine a year ago. I considered trading it, but I do love it. Just going to suck it up and keep my fingers crossed we don't have any other issues.

The early year new body styles (15’s - 18’s I believe) have had numerous transmission and/or torque converter issues - most often it’s a torque converter that’s went bad....and if so it most likely spewed stuff into the transmission via fluid exchange etc. Some issues are very slight due to the transmission oil GM used from the factory - most dealers will do a flush and replace with higher viscosity Mobil1 oil (but yours I’m sure would not be a candidate for this ‘free service’ due to the mileage). Mine had the slight ‘rumble strip’ feel and kept feeling ‘weak’ especially when towing a bass boat...the fluid flush and refill with the Mobile1 seems to have fixed the issues I was having going on 5-6 months now since the fluid exchange...but I may have just caught it early enough to avoid any serious damage. Just my $0.02.

I called the mechanic but haven't heard anything back yet. I assume the complete transmission is done for, it appears to have lost all gears. Hopefully the insurance I bought and the dealer can take care of it.

HVAC - I suspect it may have had the condenser replaced. I can see where the plastic cover had been removed in the past and the condenser looked fairly clean. If it breaks, I have all the equipment to fix it myself. No way could the HVAC system in one of these be worse than a 2010 GMC Acadia. Our Acadia has been a great vehicle but it is nearly impossible to work on the HVAC system.

Dealership is searching for a remanufactured transmission with a decent warranty. They are hoping to get it and install it the same day it comes in. I'll update everyone one it's here.

The GM transmissions will have the best warranty because it can be used nationwide at any dealership. Three years unlimited miles.
