Opinions,Thoughts, and Pictures On Side Molding

I just can not bring myself to like the side molding on the Yukon. It is so fat that at some angles it looks like its kind of rippled and just old. I was wondering if anyone has experimented with the Escalade or Tahoe side moldings and do they have pictures. I also curious as to everyones opinion. I would say no molding at all but no matter how far out in the parking lot I go some idiot with a clunker ends up parking beside me and who knows how many times that molding has saved some actual door damage.

I debadged mine kon and wanted to see how I would like it with the moldings only. I like the look and will not demold it. I have seen several kons on here and in the DFW area like that as well and they look good. When I get my wheels I'm sure I will like it even more. We all have different tastes so whatever you like just go with it.

I have an '09 LTZ, so I have the molding with the top portion in chrome. Regardless, I purchased Escalade door moldings, but I haven't removed mine and put the Esky molding on. What I CAN tell you about it, though, is that the Esky molding has two "locating tabs" per molding. The Eskys have holes in the doors where these tabs sit. This must make it easy to align the molding on Escalades. I went ahead and removed these tabs. Otherwise, the moldings are just held on with 3M tape, just like all of the other model moldings.

I really like both looks the no molding and escalade molding I guess the only difference is cost lol, I called our local caddy dealer and it was gonna be like $310 per side for the ESV chrome molding. I just worry about door dings because you can truly park as far from everyone as possible and somehow they end up beside you and its usually some junk car that the owners dont care about.

Id love to see more photos of this ride, I know its not a Yukon but it looks awesome and I might buy my wife either a Tahoe or regular Yukon and have been thinking about blacking out the next addition.

i just took the moldings off my yukon. a bit of work but easy enough. however i ran into this problem. i posted in the general discussion so this is just a copy/paste of that thread.


"ok so im in the process of debadging and demolding my yukon. everything comes off without a problem, just getting the adhesive off now. however when i took my drivers molding off it was full of water and silt in it and there is a very visible faded portion. my question is am i SOL or will some elbow grease and car products make a difference. i already tried a little polishing compound on the area with no fade in the color just made it shiny. my bud is bringin over his DA and some products to try tonight."


UPDATE: all the moldings are off, i clay bar'd and polished the doors all out then waxed. the part with the color variance is very much there. others chimed in and said it would fade and its called a ghost line. no other doors have any problem just the one that had water in it. im not gonna spend the money to repaint but if it wont go away ill just put the molding back on
