optional phone/ onstar 99 esky

Does anyone have any information or experience with either of these? I would like to know how the phone worked. Also there 2 decent size boxes behind my glove box that i suspect has something to do with these systems.. Just looking for information, from what i can tell these wernt very common

There used to be an OnStar handset phone in the console of the Yukon and tahoe for 1998 and 1999. It would hide and flip out. It was completely hands free through the stereo or you could pick it up and use it like a phone to your ear.
