Hey everyone

i have what could be a dumb question but i need to ask it find out if i have any options. Recently picked up a 01 Tahoe for short money but we failed to realize/be told that there is no OD in this model. So when i am on the highway after 60mph you can drop the gas pedal to the floor and the truck basically stays at 60 or slows down for a second then over about 30-60 seconds it will eventually get to 70-80mph but with no power. Could the transmission be swapped etc or is the truck just who it is and never going to have power.

thanks!

There absolutely is an overdrive on your truck. Something is probably wrong with the transmission. These trucks have plenty of power. Take it to a local transmission shop and have them diagnose.

Well... Now you know why you got it for short money... Definitely a transmission issue

Sounds like the trans isnt downshifting properly. Have you tried to manually shit into 2nd or 3rd when on the highway and see if it *****?

okay so after the truck sitting for a few weeks, i took it yesterday to the shop. On the way to shop the truck worked perfect, i could accelerate over 60 mph and the truck was going near 3500rpm 65,70,80 basically responding to me flooring it.

Guys at the shop now didnt have much to say since they drove it and found the same thing. They did still suggest it could be either the 1-2/3-4od solenoid. Does that seem to make sense to anyone that with it working properly after sitting it could just be a solenoid on its way out or something?
