I posted in an older thread, but felt it could be helpful to start a new thread about this...

I got a CEL yesterday randomly (see my Volant CAI CELs [system too rich] that I was getting in the past, but have since replaced intake with stock setup).

I was driving on my snowy driveway and just moving my car while working in the garage and noticed I had a CEL on. I tried using my Actron CP9135 to pull the code, but go figure, it couldn't link (POS). So I went to Advanced to use theirs and I had four (4) codes... all System too lean codes (P0171 and P0174).

I cleared them, went on with my business. Today, after driving 50+ miles since clearing the code and not having another CEL... I was in my snowy driveway again (traction control came on when circling the driveway) and the CEL came on again. I can't verify that it's the same codes but I think it's safe to say it is...

ANY IDEAS as to why this is happening????? I'm so frustrated with this damn car. First I get system too rich with an aftermarket CAI (which is the opposite of what SHOULD be happening) and now with a stock engine I'm getting system too lean.

I do have a catback (gibson) but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I'm pretty sure that the aftermarket exhaust starts after the O2 sensor that is used in this calculation.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS think? I'm going to the dealership on Monday, but I can't stand to drive a car with a CEL on. Anybody else hear of this or ever have this problem? :mexsmoke:

TIA

for future reference, I took it to the dealer and there was a rubber grommet missing on a vacuum port which was throwing off the computer. He replaced the rubber grommet (which is under the engine cover somewhere) and it fixed the problem!

I don't know how that happened... but I hope this helps if anyone else has this problem in the future.

I was gonna say, sounded like an excessive leak caused when swapping back to the OEM setup.

So if you were to switch back to the aftermarket CAI would you still be getting the other codes? I'm wondering if this issue was actually causing your original issue when you tried putting on an aftermarket CAI...

Of course, that would be a logical assumption if I had made the change back to stock within any reasonable time prior to this incident. Unfortunately, I had swapped intakes back to stock at least two, two and half months earlier.

I'm actually contemplating putting back on my Volant CAI. Even though they were different codes (read: rich vs. lean), it couldn't hurt. I've honestly noticed a drop in avg mpg's since putting back on my stock setup. Not to mention the lack of awesome sound effects that the intake provided.
