I've seemed to hit some problems today. I'm hoping that someone here can give some insight but let me lay out what I know about these codes and what things I think I can eliminate as the causes for these codes.

P0300....This code comes up when a random misfire is occurring. About 10,000 miles ago I replaced the spark plugs and all the wires look good and seem to be making a good connection so I don't think that's the issue. After researching the net on this issue there is a plethora of things that can cause this code :(

P1516.....this is caused by an issue with the throttle body or other fuel/air related issues. I've cleaned my throttle body (a dirty TB can cause the error as well) so it's not an issue of a dirty TB. I'm hoping it's not a faulty TB

I try to avoid taking my rides to shops as I can usually diagnose and repair most issues but this may be a time I have to bite the bullet unless someone can impart some knowledge on me that will solve my issue(s) :hands:

Ignition coil maybe? That would be my guess as the rough idle. I had that happen to my 07 dodge charger I used to have.

I'll put that on my list of possibles :) I put in some injector cleaner last night to see if that clears up the rough idle as well. I'll give that some time before I throw parts at it. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

Coils are common to go out. If a coil keeps faulting the computer will eventually tell witch one instead of a random miss fire code.

The more I research the more I'm suspecting this could be a culprit. I just don't know which cylinder since there's 1 coil per cylinder. So my question to myself is do I just replace all 8 and see if that fixes it ($30-60 per coil on rockauto.com) or let a shop diagnose it  I'm torn.

Well, I cleaned the throttle body a couple of weeks back and everything seemed back to normal and running good. Well last night the issue arose again and the wife barely made it home. So instead of throwing parts at it as after a lot of research these two codes can be caused by a number of things I'm having it towed to be looked at by the professionals. I'm anticipating it needing a new Throttle Body or a TAC Module but we shall see.

Keep us informed, I too have a little rough idle. Other threads say its the nature of these engines. I would like to eliminate any other items before I just settle for a rough idle solution.

I'll definitely update this thread when I know what fixes it. :) A rough idle, in general, could be a plethora of things especially if it's something that doesn't throw a code. Could be that the spark plugs need changed. Could need wires. Could need Ignition Module(s) replaced. The list could go on and also largely depends on mileage of the vehicle as well. Some also come from the factory with a little bit of a rough idle.

This issue I'm dealing with, though, was throwing codes and barely moved under it's own power :help: I should know something today, though.

Issue ended up being the throttle body. New one is isntalled and she's running good.
