Driving my co-driver's Tahoe to the local recycle station today and discovered the CEL on. I checked the gauges and saw everything in normal range. I maintained a heightened sense of awareness on the trip to the station and back to the house, and sensed no issues. Got home, and ran a scan on the truck and it's posted a P06DD, indicating an issue with the engine oil pressure control circuit. The oil pressure looks fine, and the oil level is good. The last oil change was about 2000 miles ago, and the color and smell is good.
When running at idle, it sounds a bit like a power steering pump whine when it's low on fluid, but otherwise, there's no other notable issues. Since I'm seeing good oil pressure (over 40 at idle, then goes up a bit from there with some throttle input), I guess replacing the oil pressure sending unit and screen is really just throwing money in the wrong area.
I found a TSB on the issue, PIP5555 and PIP5555A, but any PDFs I'm finding are missing ALL of the pictures mentioned in the couple of paragraphs in the TSBs.
I guess we're in for an oil pump, timing gear and chain and tensioner replacement, unless others here have a different idea.....
