P3425 & P0442 error codes

I don’t think the 2007 5.3L’s had VVT, just the 6.2L’s, but I could be mistaken.

I think you're right... The picture I dropped in this thread, my timing cover looks the one on the right, the picture had text at the bottom of the image that I didnt really pay attention too, "These are two LS engine timing covers. The one on the left has the camshaft phasing actuator, indicating that it is from an engine with VVT. The one one the right has no actuator, so it is from an engine without VVT. (Image/Summit Racing)."
I guess it this puts me back to square one. Any other ideas?

Hello @wjburken, I had chevy run new fuel lines a few months back. Shortly after I was getting P0442 code. When I started to take parts off the top of the engine to replace the cylinder deactivation manifold, then I saw this connector (black line with green cap) was not actually snapped back in! Would this have caused long starts and cause this code?

Hello @wjburken, I had chevy run new fuel lines a few months back. Shortly after I was getting P0442 code. When I started to take parts off the top of the engine to replace the cylinder deactivation manifold, then I saw this connector (black line with green cap) was not actually snapped back in! It could contribute to those symptoms, yes.

So I got the airbox manifold (wherever its called) removed. Then I found out what the REAL problem is.... We have deer corn in our side lot and apparently a mouse has been housing between the manifold and airbox eating its corn. And it chewed through one wire on the wiring harness to connect to the deactivation manifold. Very frustrating, but I am still replacing the deactivation manifold.

Another strange thing is that all but three bolts to hold down this cyl. deactivation manifold was only hand tight.

Wow! That could certainly be the cause of your P3245 issue. My concern is whether or not any permanent damage has been done to the lifter if the AFM solenoid wasn’t firing properly.

time for some outside tom cats and I would spray the engine compartment and undercarriage with something that mice do not like and I would buy a pack of mouse traps and put them outside random with peanut butter on them in the meantime.
