Paintable front valance?

I was goofing around on LMC truck and found that there is a replacement paintable trim cap for our 2000-06 front bumpers, but not so much for a paintable valance. I have seen ones painted around the web and didnt know if it was as simple as bringing into a body shop and having them paint it, or pick up a chrome valance, slap some etch primer on it, and paint it in-house. Id like to know what you all think...thanks.

The oem valences are plastic so they can be easily be painted at a body shop or you can paint it yourself
