Not sure I've seen this done yet but I had some down time yesterday and decided to paint the chrome surround but keep the chrome inserts. Also put a 2013 Bowtie (it's painted good rather than the gold "burst" on the 07-11). I'm loving the cleaner look. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1374146581.130946.jpg

That actually looks sick not what I would expect.

If I had a black tahoe I'd definitely do this nice work man!

Black surround contrasts well with chrome inserts and gold bow tie. I like more the more I look at it.

The bowties up until 2012 had a gold "burst" look to them, not a solid, more flat color. In 2012-2013 its painted metallic gold, just one color, no variant. Looks much cleaner. Subtle change, but I'm really digging it.

Man that looks great imo, the remaining chrome insert adds some depth to the grill, not as flat as the all black grills look... if that makes sense

Never knew that about the bowtie color, I hated my "gold burst" on my 07, but that new gold look i can appreciate

and the lonestar plate

I plastidipped mine a few weeks back to see how it would look before I sand and paint. Definitely think I'm going to end up painting.
