When I got my Tahoe, I noticed that when I got in it at night and started the engine, I have no dash or headlights until I release the parking brake. At the very least, I'd like to have the dash lights come on with the ignition key, whether the parking brake is set or not.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Jump pin 5 (pink) with pin 8 (yellow). So you don't back feed the whole system I would snip the yellow wire behind your tap. That will illuminate the cluster at all times day and night. Nice thing to have.

Would that illuminate just the cluster? or all IP lights?

Having the lights on all the time would increase the bulb burnout rate. If it's just the cluster lights, I could handle changing bulbs as needed. If all the IP lights come on, I'm not wild about having to change all the soldered lights in the radio, AC controls, etc. Also, I see that it would not be dimmable. I do dim my panel lights.

It's a thought, and I'll keep this solution in mind.

Really, what year? On my 04, the head/dash lights come on wither the parking brake is on or off. Doesn't make sense that they would only come on with the parking brake off.

Mine's an '02. Maybe lots of people complained about it and GM changed it.
