Just thinking about getting my first set of aftermarket rims.

It is not the fear of dropping a grand or so on them that I am afraid of.

The fear is of buying a set that gets discontinued....... And one of them cracks, ruined, etc. and not being able to find a replacement for it. I would not be happy to have to buy a new set in a few years.:doh2:

How do you guys deal with this monkey mentally?

Are some designs less prone to this, meaning they have been around for a while.....

Right now I am between Black Rhino Zambia or TBSS in Comp Grey.

Buy oem is how I deal with it.

However I did own Enkei that were discontinued while I had them and had no problem selling them. If they are good quality from a reputable manufacturer, a somewhat classic design, and you maintain them properly, there'll always be a buyer when you're ready to sell.

You can have a wheel repaired in many cases. I had one on my gtp actually dent and break the metal. It looked pretty bad. Sent it out and they fixed it no problem. it came back good as new.

TBSS wheels will be around for awhile. Shouldn't worry about those being discoed.

+1 on OEM. That's what I did and I have not regretted it yet.

A wheel of even decent quality is not going to get damaged unless someone smashes into them, you smash them into something (including a pothole), you pull to close to a curb, or if you don't properly inflate your tires.
If you avoid all that you will have 0 problems and not have to worry if your wheel is discontinued. Plus those OEM wheels are VERY expensive to replace individually and will bend just as easy as aftermarket wheels of the same size if they are abused.

+1...I totally agree with this...every vehicle I have owned I put aftermarket wheels on them. I have never had any problems with my wheels...

I have had my 22s for 5 years now and havent had any problems with them. I just had them powder coated because I was tired of the chrome though.
