Good evening everyone. Google has been no help here. Let me tell you what's going on, and what I've discovered.
I bought a 2002 Z71 about a year ago. Drive it damn near daily, then let it sit for about a month. Hopped in and it wouldn't start. No biggie. Jumped it and it was starting daily for about 5 days, then stopped cranking on its own. I've had the red top battery charged and checked, it's good.
I a full charge, I checked voltage at 11.98 volts, cranked it up and hit 14.23. Let it run for around 1 hour, never dipped below 13.85.Alternator is good.
So I've figured it's gotta be a parasitic drain. I disconnected negative terminal and tested amperage at 0mv.ive read it should be 2-4, and 0 is an problem with my multimeter. So I just put the terminal back in the battery and kinda gave up. I went back to the vehicle about 30 minutes later to check for any lights on or anything (looked from outside, didn't open doors) and noticed the bright light indicator was illuminated on the dash.
It does have after market HID lights, but they function properly from what I can tell.
What does it mean that the hi beam indicator stays on when the vehicle is off? It doesn't stay on while the vehicle is running unless I engage the highbeams.

It sounds like a back feed through the lighting circuit, or an issue with the multifunction switch. Have you tried disconnecting the head lights and see what happens over night?
I have not. Didn't want to start doing anything else until I got some more info. I'll try this weekend.
