I am having some issues with my parking brake where it only works about half the time or less. I recently replaced the brake shoes and immediately upon doing so the parking brake seemed to work great. But soon after it starting sticking and only after I started driving would the parking brake make a popping noise and fully release. The actual parking brake release up by the stearing wheel works fine it is the actual brake that was sticking. Soon that stopped happening about 3 months later and then my brake stopped working but only part of the time. Sometimes I engage the parking brake and it works great, other times it is non-existent.

I have read alot about the parking brakes on these vehicles and it sounds like they have tons of issues. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this or has any suggestions. Maybe I never adjusted it properly? Is it worth redoing or should I just take it to a shop?

My only issue was the short cable up by the pedal. It stretched and frayed and needed to be replaced.

Per my mechanic the e-brakes can be damaged very easily by driving only a short distance while engaged. Maybe that happened? Unconfessing wife or other driver?
