Sounds like the tabs that lock it in place are getting worn or partially broken. It could also be a weak spring or its just binding up a little. Look up under the seat as best you can and try to watch the latch move as you operate it. If it looks like its pretty free its probably just a weak spring so its not holding the tabs down tight enough or the tabs are getting worn. If its not moving freely lay down some plastic and spray the sh** out of anything that moves with penetrating oil. Leave the bag under there for a while as it will probably drip for a little while. Some aerosol white lithium grease should be able to get uo in there and keep everything moving like it should for a while.

I had this same problem when I bought my 99 Yukon. The bottom seat pan was cracked. It had been repaired before and broke again. I opted to replace the whole seat being it was easier.

I have still have the passenger seat that I don't need, grey cloth in decent condition.....sucks your on the other side of the country

He would only need the bottom bracket section if you could remove that half possibly. Ive seen them break and the would tilt but i haven't seen one break so it moves forward and backwards.

^^ Agreed @drakon543

Shit the seat is just taking up space in my garage, so I'm willing to break it down for the benefit of another member.

@th3 shifty let me know I'm willing to assist

awesome.. thanks guys.. yeah its rocking the entire seat at the slider rails.. the seat track is bolted down to the floor pan tight.. but the rocking occurs at the actual rails.. so my rails must be bad..

if you are willing to sell me the seat track that bolts to the seat.. i would appreciate it since i have searched for months now on ebay and im not having luck

Shoot me a PM with your cell number. I will tryand break it down tomorrow and shoot you the pics.

If all works out, I can ship it by the middle of the week and might have it for the weekend

I was able to break the seat down, it was rather straight forward.

Based on my experience, its the bottom seat pan thats broken and not the seat tracks. I can include the tracks too. But if you can confirm the actual issue we can save money on the shipping.
