Got export version of Tahoe 01. I have a key without chip in it, but I always must press Unlock button on key fob before starting. Otherwise the engine starts and dies, together with Security lamp. Is this the same as with your US-built cars?

I'm asking because I've got troubles with it. BCM probably keeps forgetting the programmed keys. Car won't unlock remotely and thus I cannot turn off the Passlock protection. It takes several attempts and time before I'm able to re-pair the keys with car by holding lock & unlock buttons at the same time.

Anyone? For the first steps I just want to confirm that other Tahoes & Yukons have the same security system. That is, no chipped key but one must use Unlock button on the factory remote before cranking the engine.

Thx!

My key has a chip, will start and die regardless of unlock button on remote. Hope this helps

You will need to hook it up to a scanner to see what code might show if you try to start without pressing a look first. Even though this is export bottle it should behave the same as any other GM truck does. My guess is the pass lock decoder in the ignition switch is bad
