pcv valve

i was hearing some "new noise" coming from my engine bay so i brought it to the shop and they said it was the pcv valve so i got it swapped but its still making noise. if i pull out the valve while its running and cover the hole while the engine is running the noise stops. what gives?
i am not going back to that shop cuz they robbed me $78 bucks for a few dollar part and 15 mins. did they give me a wrong valve? a broken one? he stated that they all make noise, but i drive the truck every day and never heard the sound before. thanks!

Pcv test pull valve out and shake. If it rattles the valve is good. What does the noise sound like.

If you plu the PCV valve hole and the noise stops it's the new PCV valve. Buy the updated PCV valve from GM that has no moving parts it's just an orifice.

Or you can get a better quality PCV valve that doesn't rattle.

If you are saying the noise stops when the PCV valve is pulled out of the valve cover the rear main seal could be fluttering from excessive vacuum I'm the crankcase, also caused by a cheap PCV valve or plugged breather hose.

the new pcv valve the shop put in doesnt make noise when i shake it.
the noise sounds like its coming from the top of the motor/intake manifold where the pcv valve hose travels and connects to.
i dont know if this will help but the noise started to occur one day after i floored it on the highway and had it at about 4k rpms for a bit.
