Performance Muffler Question-updated

Everyone seems to recommend the Magnaflow 12589.
However, it is center in (3") and ONE offset out (3").

My factory muffler is 2.75" center in and TWO 3" outlets.
A local muffler shop said that one of the two outlet pipes is a dummy.

That would make sense for using the Magnaflow 12589.
Is the outlet closest to the driveshaft a dummy?

I am looking to replace my factory muffler with a better flowing one.

EDIT 1: Ok, I think I figured it out. Most go with 12589 and just do away with the roughly 10" dual pipe.
I think I might go with the Jones MF2590 which does have the two 3" outlets. It is comparable to the Magnaflow 12590, but is half the price and flows better.

EDIT 2: See top of page 3 for post install review.

It's not quiet. It's just not as loud as a 2 Chamber style muffler. It will be somewhere in
between a 50 and 70 series in terms of loudness.

The 12589 is tame but nice when you step on it.

From my research, it looks like I have about a 50-50 chance of drone around 70mph (2000 rpm), even with the 5x11x22" muffler and keeping both outlets. I guess that I'll find out soon.

You will still have some drone even with the 5x11x22. It's much less than the other performance mufflers though.

Don't swap out a muffler for performance gains....there really isn't much.

EH, I didn't see much from either the Magnaflow catback nor the Corsa Touring on my 2004 Z71.
