I really need to learn how to photoshop (or whatever program is available for relatively cheap). Anyone know of an on-line course/tutorial type thing that's free?

I can do the basic stuff just fine, but when it comes to, say, swapping a new set of rims onto something I have no freaking clue how to do it.

I started with paint shop pro. its very user friendly. Its what i use for the majority of my chops. I just watched tutorials on youtube and stuff.. I used photoshop mainly for my photography. But car chops I still use paint shop pro. You can download it free for 30 days. if you need help with it pm me and I will show you what to do

I've got paint shop pro for like, another week, for free. Been messing with it a little bit, but really haven't had as much time to play as I'd like. Still don't know how to do anything other then basic adjustments, though.

Any good place to start?

If you dont close the program it never ends lol. I purchased though. I can send you my key and you can try it..

What I do is use the freehand selection tool and trace out what I want to use. Say a wheel. Trace out the wheel and leave alot of extra room on the outside. Copy and paste as new selection, then place it where it needs to be. Use the eraser tool and erase the edges. Thats it. I use this method for front end conversions and all. Check the photoshop contest to see my camaro front end swap..

I can do a quick video for you this weekend

also click on properties to use opacity. I go to 50% opacity so i can see through the selection and modify it to fit them return it to 100%. Also when using eraser do 50% pacity to fade.. Its good to find a donor vehicle of the same color makes it easy but you can do a histogram adjustment or a luminescent airbrush to modify the color. you adjust color by opacity also to change the tint

Wow, cool. Thanks a lot. Probably play with it after work and see what I can create.

Sounds relatively easy...just seems more intimidating then that for some reason.

I'll try the "keep it open" trick and see how that goes....lol

I've never used anything but Photoshop, but I've been using it for close to 10 years now. It's all about getting comfortable with the basic features then slowly adding as you progress. http://www.photoshopchop.com/tutorials/ This is a pretty sweet website for you guys to check out. Their forum is pretty good, and their tutorials might just give you some ideas..

I appreciate the pointers, guys.

Whenever I have some time I'll sit down and play with it and see what I can do.
