Way back some years, I was 'coached' to imagine the carburetor and transmission's shifting.....

You don't push past the 2 components abilities. So, you cruise up & down hills.

Up hill, you give just enough gas into the carb, ...... Too much gas, and if you are not going faster...then, back off the peddle.

Down hill...... Firm on the brakes..... let off....... Then firm again..... Keeps the rotors cool.
