The pioneer 8500 is looking like a good upgrade option for my 2011 yukon denali. Seems like there is a pretty good solution to maintain most factory functionality - swc, rear entertainment, backup cam etc.

I'm wondering, for those of you who have it, have you tried and had luck with playing video off a sd card, usb drive or external hd? It would be nice to not have a pile of DVDs in the car for the kids anymore.

Also, has anyone experimented with sound quality on the onstar mic vs the mic with the 8500?

Man, I am in the process of installing it all. I have to say that this project is overall expensive. I can't figure out what harness to get to retain my factory XM, BT, OnStar, RES. I had GMOS-LAN-012 but that did not work as planned so I will be returning it. What harness have you found?

See my reply on your previous post. Read through it from the beginning and it lists everything I used for 100% retain and connectivity.

Also the sound improvement with Bose was drastic. Night and day. I also retained the onstar/bluetooth for phone and the 8500bhs uses that mic for phone calls. I didn't even install the mic that came with the 8500.
