Pioneer double din = usb won’t fit

Anyone here install a double din pioneer? While trying to mount it back up the usb plug in the back hits the back metal. It won’t fit back in unless I remove the usb cable completely (which sucks that’s 99% of the way I will be using it)

Any work around? 2010 tahoe

Can you notch the bracket with a dremel?

Is the plug at the top of the unit? I know Crutchfield has a warning about units with plug placement on the back of the unit due to clearance issues. From their site:

The vehicle's subdash interferes with the harness and RCA connections of some double-DIN (4" tall) stereos. Check our product photos to make sure the stereo you're buying does not have wire harnesses or RCA connectors that plug into the top half of the back of the stereo.

I have read many times of guys needing to cut that metal brace out.

I had to cut the plastic behind mine for the fan and I used a mini usb to usb cable adapter for the oem usb port, the fit is tight but works, if you are using one of the hard plastic usb adapters it might not fit because they are just too long I had to order one with a short cable

Or get a 90° USB cable.

yea it is.. shoot I’m eventually gonna do RCAs too..bummer

and yea @kbuskill I ordered some right away but I still think they may be in the way

I don't believe what you need to cut is metal. It's been a while, but I'm sure all I had to cut with mine was a little bit of the black plastic at the back wall. I measured where the USB jack was on the head unit then drilled out the plastic where it hit when I slid it into the dash. I used something like a 3/8" bit to drill two holes side-by-side, then pulled the bit sideways to cut out the bridge between the two holes then opened up the whole thing to make a slot about 1/2" tall by 3/4" wide.

this dash is different than the one in my tahoe. The piece isn’t the same. I assume your Yukon will not be the same as this videos Sierra as well

Ok cool if the 90 plug doesn’t work I’ll give this a try
