If you are running a pioneer dd like the 4000, 4050 or alot of others that are super limited on background selection here is an easy trick we did just for fun.. that also netted us a gang of ice points just for originality at our last show.

Run an iPod AV/RCA charger cable to USB into one of your usb slots. ($8 ebay)

Plug in your iPod touch, nano vid, or vid

Go into back ground selections in the pioneer menu and set BG to AV

Now you can play videos on your iPod and they will show up as a background

It will still show the box with track name and number and such but the video will be playing behind it all, sans sound, and if you want sound or to actually watch the vid just back out to main screen and click AV and it will play it just like a dvd.

Some more fun is make your own pics or 3d graffics.. even gifs of like spinning logos or mario running acroos the screen back and forth and sav it as a .mov file and you can use the ipod to display those as a background too.

For a radio with 4 BS backgrounds and no way to edit them this fixed the only real issue i had with it. And its fun to build your own stuff.. Afro samurai makes a GREAT movie background btw.. lol

You say you're running a Pioneer touch screen nav in your sig, what one are you running that you can get your back ground as an AV? I've got the F700 and there's no background choice.

i had a different one but switched to the p4000.. no more nav w/o tom tom lol

More wires coming out of my Pioneer Z2...not sure if my dash can handle it...everytime I take out my Z2 its always harder to put it back in. Is there an easier way to get my 'Kons guts back in without damaging anything?

it might work but not with a hard drive.. has to be plugged into the video rca and produce its own image.. cant do that with a harddrive
