Play in the steering wheel

So my 08 denali has a little bit of play in the steering wheel. I can shake the wheel left and right and the vehicle will continue going straight. Does anyone know why it might be doing this?

Inner tie rods probably starting to go. How many miles on it?

Check you intermediate shaft. very common issue.

Can you expand on that? Check the shaft for what? loose bolt, wear?

I can't check the idler/pitman arms, it doesn't have any. Just wondering what to check specifically on the intermediate shaft.
