Plug found un-plugged

While doing some stereo troubleshooting on my 2000 Tahoe LT, near the amp which is located behind the glove box I saw this blue plug hanging and the place where it should be plugged into. I was set to go up north with the Tahoe and didn't want to unknowingly just plug it back in and leave. Everything has always worked fine with the vehicle, besides the occasional stereo cutting out.

Does anyone know what this plug/harness is used for? My gut was passenger side airbag, but those are from what I've seem very well labeled in yellow.

not 100% sure it's been a while but it looks like the plug for the factory radio amp, if you have aftermarket radio then that amp was likely disconnected and either a separate amp was used or the power from the radio was used instead. the other wires still plugged in could be going to the rear pillar speakers which normally are not used with a aftermarket radio.

The Tahoe is 100% stock, it's got nothing aftermarket. The unit in the picture with the 2 plugs attached is the factor amp which I have had out to reset those connections.

does it have the factory base speaker in the rear drivers side panel? if so it could be for that, often the bass speaker is rotted out long ago so it could have been simply disconnected.

the only other thing it might be is onstar but depending on the year onstar is usually closer to the radio or under it.

the amp with the 2 connectors looks ok. that other pic, where is that located. i thought it was the BCM(body control module) but it the bcm has a plastic housing.

I believe you’d get plenty of bells and whistles if the bcm is unplugged

Looks like someone was in that harness already so maybe previous owner had issue and that was the fix. Plug it in see what happens.... worse case you blow the amp or radio.

I believe you’d get plenty of bells and whistles if the bcm is unplugged

unplug the bcm I don't think you would get any bells or whistles be a dead truck
